Revision of previous World Bank Forests Policy

World Bank activities have major implications for forests and forests peoples. From 1998-2003 the Bank undertook to revise its policy towards forests through a complicated ‘Forest Policy Implementation Review and Strategy’ (FPIRS). The Forest Peoples Programme tracked this process and was actively involved in advocating the rights and interests of forest peoples in meetings and correspondence with Bank staff responsible for the revision of the policy since the process began.

This section summarises the inputs and briefing materials introduced into this process by the Forest Peoples Programme from late 1999 to early 2003, as well as subsequent follow-up. Documents include the following:
