Sabah, Malaysia - Petition to halt construction of Kaiduan Dam
Against the wishes of the local communities, the Sabah State Government is considering the construction of a dam which will flood over 350 sq km of traditional and community land, including 9 villages. The Environmental Impact Assessment is being challenged for failing to follow State-prescribed procedures. The Action Committee Against Kaiduan Dam seeks public support to request the Government to cancel plans for the dam and to take alternative measures including: improving the management of its water supply, conducting a public campaign to save water, and exploring other cheaper and safer options for water supply.

Latest EIA of planned major hydroelectric project in the Lower Omo Basin still ignores its destructive effect on 200,000 indigenous people

An academic analysis of the 2008 'Additional Study on Downstream Impact' of the planned Gibe III hydroelectric project finds that this latest Environmental Impact Assessment 'rests on a series of faulty premises' with potentially devastating effects in the region where Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya intersect.

Major hydroelectric project in the Omo Basin will damage the lives of 200,000 indigenous people

An academic study of the 'fundamentally flawed' 2006 Environmental Impact Assessment of the planned Gibe III hydroelectric project in Ethiopia's Lower Omo River Basin suggests that Ethiopian institutions have made 'no effort to prevent or address the looming crisis' that the dam poses to the basin's 200,000 indigenous people
