We are delighted to announce that the Forest Peoples Programme has appointed James Whitehead as its new Director. James joins our international team of 55 in April 2018 and will be leading the development and articulation of a clear strategic approach across all FPP’s work.
James comes to the organisation with a strong track record of effective senior management and collaborative leadership with twenty years’ experience in rights-based work spanning community-led local action up to international advocacy across multiple countries and regions, working to bring change alongside organisations and communities in the Global South.
He joins FPP from Oxfam GB where he led on programme innovation before which he managed Oxfam’s programmes in the Middle East. Prior to joining Oxfam, James was the International Director for Progressio, a UK-based INGO, managing global programmes and policy on sustainable livelihoods, climate change, civil society and governance.
FPP is thrilled to have James join the team, and we join our Board of Trustees in welcoming him into the organisation and look forward to working together to address the critical challenges facing forest-dependent peoples in the world today.
