In response to a specific request by the Green Climate Fund Secretariat, Indigenous Peoples and support organisations have submitted their comments and recommendations on the modalities for selection, activities and role of observers and active observers in the Board of the Green Climate Fund - See Letter. Specific operational details are provided in the response to the questionnaire (attached).
Asian Indigenous Women’s Network and Forest Peoples Programme have developed a series of booklets addressing the human rights framework, the rights of indigenous peoples and the rights of women as enshrined in and protected by the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women. The booklets have been designed specifically to address the situations of indigenous women in Asia and include a detailed compilation of existing CEDAW jurisprudence related to indigenous women.
Le Asian Indigenous Women’s Network (Réseau des femmes autochtones d’Asie) et le Forest Peoples Programme ont réalisé une série de brochures consacrées au cadre de protection des droits humains, aux droits des peuples autochtones et aux droits des femmes tels que consacrés et protégés dans la Convention sur l’élimination de toutes les formes de discrimination à l’égard des femmes. Les brochures ont été conçues pour traiter spécifiquement des situations des femmes autochtones en Asie et comprennent une compilation détaillée de la jurisprudence existante du CEDAW en matière de femmes autochtones.
29 indigenous women from 10 different countries across the Asia Pacific region met in Manila, Philippines, in November 2010, to discuss the challenges indigenous women and their communities face in relation to their land rights. The workshop was collaboratively held by the Asian Indigenous Women’s Network (AIWN) and Forest Peoples Programme (FPP). Land rights across the region, indeed the world, are of central importance in ensuring that indigenous peoples are able to survive as culturally distinct peoples. Asia and the Pacific contain a huge array of circumstances for indigenous peoples, from indigenous majority countries like Fiji in the Pacific to countries in mainland Asia where indigenous peoples are not even recognized by their governments.
Vingt-neuf femmes autochtones de 10 pays de la région Asie-Pacifique se sont réunies à Manille aux Philippines en novembre 2010 afin de discuter des défis auxquels les femmes autochtones et leurs communautés font face dans le domaine des droits fonciers. L’atelier a été organisé par le Asian Indigenous Women’s Network (AIWN) et le Forest Peoples Programme (FPP). Dans la région, et dans le monde entier, les droits fonciers jouent un rôle capital pour permettre aux peuples autochtones de survivre en tant que peuples culturellement distincts. L'Asie et le Pacifique recueillent une grande diversité de situations pour les peuples autochtones, avec des pays à majorité autochtone, tel que Fiji dans le Pacifique, ou l’Asie continentale, où les peuples autochtones ne sont même pas reconnus par leurs gouvernements.
