'From our Ancestors' is a very powerful and moving story about the Pandumaan and Sipituhuta community in North Sumatra, Indonesia. They are fighting to stop the growth of pulp plantations owned by PT Toba Pulp Lestari. Previously formerly affiliated with pulp and paper giant, Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL) and its parent Royal Golden Eagle (RGE), and is still controlled by notorious Indonesian business tycoon Sukanto Tanoto through holding companies.

Toolkit on the Inter-American human rights system for indigenous women

In order for the Inter-American human rights system to adequately recognise, protect and fulfil the human rights of indigenous women, it is necessary for indigenous women to engage with the system, to make their voices heard and to tell their stories with all their complexities. This toolkit, which contains a series of information notes explaining different aspects of the Inter-American system, is designed to help indigenous women and their advocates to use the system effectively.

Indigenous Women Working for Their Rights

In February, women from 20 different countries met in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to discuss the challenges indigenous women and their communities face in relation to their land rights. The International Workshop on Indigenous Women’s Rights, Lands and Resources was collaboratively held by the Asian Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) and Forest Peoples Programme (FPP).

Las mujeres indígenas trabajan por sus derechos

En febrero de este año, mujeres provenientes de veinte países diferentes se reunieron en Chiang Mai, Tailandia, para discutir los desafíos que enfrentas las mujeres indígenas y sus comunidades en relación con sus derechos a la tierra. El Taller internacional sobre los derechos de las mujeres indígenas, la tierra y los recursos naturales fue celebrado en conjuntamente por el Asian Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) y el Forest Peoples Programme (FPP).

Durante el taller se escucharon las voces de las mujeres indígenas reflexionando acerca del trabajo de sus comunidades y pueblos para proteger los derechos.
