No dia 19 de novembro de 2007, o Conselho Indígena de Roraima (CIR), Rainforest Foundation-US, Forest Peoples Programme, e o Programa de Direito e Política Indígena da Universidade do Arizona informaram o Conselho de Direitos Humanos da ONU (Conselho) sobre a continuada situação de violação de direitos dos povos indígenas da Raposa Serra do Sol.

United Nations adopts Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The General Assembly, on 13 September 2007, adopted a landmark declaration outlining the rights of the world's estimated 370 million indigenous people and outlawing discrimination against them - a move that followed more than two decades of debate.

Land, forest and people - Facing the challenges in South-East Asia

Covering Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, this report synthesizes the results of a consultative process that examined the legal frameworks, actual reality on the ground, and responses of various local organizations, governments and civil society in 2007. The process, 'Listening, Learning and Sharing', was led by the World Agroforestry Centre and the Regional Community Forestry Training Center for Asia and the Pacific (RECOFTC), as members of the global Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), assisted by Forest Peoples Programme (FPP).

Raposa Serra do Sol CERD letter to Government of Brazil

UN Commitee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) expresses grave concerns that the security and respect for the land rights of the Macuxi, Wapichana, Taurepang, Ingaricó and Patamona indigenous peoples of Raposa Serra do Sol (RSS) in the State of Roraima, Brazil “has not improved or has even deteriorated.” Strong recommendations include completion of “the final and total removal of non-indigenous occupants of the RSS indigenous lands”. CERD calls upon the Government to report to them by 30 November 2007.
