On 12 November 2015, Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) and its partner in Paraguay, the Federación por la Autodeterminación de los Pueblos Indígenas (FAPI) released a companion set of reports describing the current situation of indigenous people, their lands, resources, and territories in Paraguay, along with the national legal framework that is meant to respect, promote and protect their rights. Many have argued that the last big “land grab” with respect to indigenous lands, resources and territories will not be from large infrastructure projects, but from conservation and resource protection initiatives.
El 12 de noviembre de 2015 el Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) y su socio en Paraguay, la Federación por la Autodeterminación de los Pueblos Indígenas (FAPI) publicaron un conjunto de informes complementarios que describen la situación actual de los pueblos indígenas, sus tierras, recursos y territorios en Paraguay, junto con el marco jurídico nacional que está destinado a respetar, promover y proteger sus derechos. Muchos han argumentado que la última “apropiación” importante de tierras, recursos y territorios indígenas no se producirá como parte de grandes proyectos de infraestructura, sino como parte de iniciativas de conservación y de protección de los recursos.

Beaucoup ont affirmé que le dernier grand « accaparement » des terres, ressources et territoires autochtones ne viendra pas des grands projets d’infrastructures, mais des initiatives de conservation et de protection des ressources.

In a statement published in a national newspaper, the council of AIDESEP, which represents over 1800 communities in the Peruvian Amazon called for the repeal and shelving of recent legal reforms being pushed through Peru’s parliament that threaten to further weaken indigenous peoples’ rights to land in favour of development projects.
On 4 – 6 November, National Human Rights Commissions and civil society organisations of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Lao PDR and Myanmar, congregated in Yangon for the Fourth Regional Conference on Human Rights and Agribusiness in Southeast Asia. This year it was hosted by the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, co-organised by Forest Peoples Programme and RECOFTC – The Centre for People and Forests, and supported by the Rights and Resources Initiative, Ford Foundation, the Climate and Land Use Alliance, and the UK Department for International Development.
In April 2014, in a tragic premonition of what was to come, the leaders of Saweto, an Ashaninka village in the Peruvian Amazon, requested urgent measures from the Peruvian government to ‘prevent any attempt on our lives’. The threat had come from loggers ‘in reprisal’ for the community’s longstanding efforts to document and denounce illegal logging in their territory.
En abril de 2014, en un trágico presentimiento de lo que estaba por suceder, los líderes de Saweto, una comunidad Asháninka de la Amazonía peruana, solicitaron al Gobierno peruano medidas urgentes para “prevenir cualquier atentado contra nuestras vidas”. Esta amenaza fue hecha por madereros “en represalia” por los esfuerzos hechos por la comunidad desde hace mucho tiempo para documentar y denunciar la tala ilegal en su territorio.
En avril 2014, dans une prémonition tragique de ce qui allait arriver, les leaders de Saweto, un village asháninka de l’Amazonie péruvienne, ont demandé que le gouvernement péruvien prenne des mesures urgentes afin d' « empêcher toute atteinte à nos vies ». La menace provenait des exploitants forestiers « en représailles » contre les efforts déployés depuis longtemps par la communauté pour attester et dénoncer l’exploitation forestière illégale sur son territoire.
