UN Commitee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) expresses grave concerns that the security and respect for the land rights of the Macuxi, Wapichana, Taurepang, Ingaricó and Patamona indigenous peoples of Raposa Serra do Sol (RSS) in the State of Roraima, Brazil “has not improved or has even deteriorated.” Strong recommendations include completion of “the final and total removal of non-indigenous occupants of the RSS indigenous lands”. CERD calls upon the Government to report to them by 30 November 2007.
