Las organizaciones no gubermentales y académicas internacionales y nacionales han firmado una carta a las autoridades gubernamentales y de seguridad para mostrar su preocupación por las actividades ilegales en el Resguardo Indígena de Origen Colonial Cañamomo Lomaprieta.

Right now, there is a rather complex situation... We have come from centuries of imposing a vision of the world, a vision of life at last, but also a discourse of hate against the indigenous peoples. Cañamono Lomaprieta is an indigenous reserve of colonial origin, a 'resguardo' that has had a resistance for more than 500 years... [since] the whole process of colonisation began, of the entire continent, and towards the land of what is today Caldas. The colonisers arrived here very early as a result of all the gold.

El Resguardo Indígena Cañamomo Lomaprieta. es un resguardo de origen colonial, un resguardo que ha tenido una resistencia de más de 500 años... Where there is an indigenous reserve or there are indigenous people, if there is no traditional medicine, it is all for nothing. If there is no traditional culture and traditional medicine [...] I believe that an indigenous reservation will have no strength. The territory is also very important, because indigenous people without territory are thrown into the air, into the space of capitalism, where one has no room for one's own life, but rather is at the mercy of the system of large-scale exploitation.
