Other climate-related institutions

There are many other institutions that work on issues of forests and climate change. These include the Global Environment Facility (GEF) which is the financial mechanism for the UNFCCC; the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) who assess climate and development issues; the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which contains a component on climate change; the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) which works towards the emissions reduction set out in the Kyoto protocol; the International Finance Corporation (IFC) which supports projects that reduce emissions. Bilateral initiatives and funds include the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) and the UK’s International Climate Fund (ICF). Many other institutions and networks are active on climate change and forest issues, such as the International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change.
