Centre d’Accompagnement des Autochtones Pygmées et Minoritaires Vulnérables (Centre of Assistance for Indigenous Pygmy Peoples and Vulnerable Minorities) - CAMV, is a not-for-profit indigenous peoples’ organisation. It was formed as a response to the bitter realities observed by a group of Pygmies educated with the support of certain religious circles. This group examined the extreme difficulties suffered by their brothers and mankind in general: ignorance, poverty, profound illiteracy, marginalisation and social discrimination, exploitation, social stigmatisation, expulsion from the forests, deforestation etc. It was in the process of trying to find solutions to these problems that this group created the association CAMV on 2 February 1995 in Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to protect and promote their causes.
Legal status
CAMV was registered by Provincial Ordinance No. 112/S-KV/608/97 on 26 September 1997 and was accorded its legal status as a not-for-profit organisation through the Ministerial Decree No. 067/CAB/MIN/J/2007 of the Minister of Justice of the DRC on 5 February 2007. CAMV is in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 2003. The organisation is also in observer status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) and, since 2009, with the African Union's Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC). CAMV is also the African civil society’s representative to the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board.

Liaison offices:
• Goma: Katindo No.8, Avenue de Goma, ANAMAD Building – this office oversees activities in the Nord-Kivu province (Goma and its surrounding areas of Rutchuru, Masisi, Walikale)
• Beni: in the Matonge area. This office oversees activities in the Grand-Nord region and in the Orientale province (Biakato-Mambasa and Irumu –Komanda areas)

CAMV’s goal: To ensure the total integration of indigenous Pygmy peoples in modern society whilst safeguarding their culture.
Objectives:
- To ensure humanitarian assistance for indigenous Pygmies;
- To promote sustainable development amongst Pygmies;
- To defend and protect the rights of indigenous Pygmies; and
- To inform indigenous Pygmies about their rights and duties through informative newsletters
