Reply to letter submitted by FPP 8 March 2010 about the proposed Kaiduan Dam (see related reports). The Minister's letter states that no official evaluation has yet taken place, and that proper procedures will be observed before the State Government makes any decision.

La DRC a présenté récemment sa Proposition pour la préparation à la REDD (R-PP) au Fonds de partenariat pour le carbone forestier (FPCF) de la Banque mondiale. Etant donné que la réussite à long terme des activités repose sur la participation effective des peuples autochtones, des populations tributaires des forêts et la société civile dans toutes les vastes forêts de la RDC, ce briefing pose la question : la RDC a-t-elle respecté les meilleures pratiques à cet égard, comme le prétend maintenant un organisme des Nations Unies ?

The Democratic Republic of Congo has recently submitted its Readiness Preparation Proposal for REDD (R-PP) to the World Bank's Forest Carbon Partnership Facility. Considering that a successful outcome relies on ensuring effective participation by forest communities, indigenous peoples and civil society across the vast extent of the DRC's rainforest, this briefing asks: has the DRC followed best practice in this respect, as a UN agency is now claiming?
