Le Centre d’Accompagnement des Autochtones Pygmées et Minoritaires Vulnérables (CAMV) a fait part de ses préoccupations quant à la situation des femmes autochtones de la RDC à la Commission africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples lors de sa 53ième Session ordinaire qui s’est tenue du 9 au 23 avril à Banjul, Gambie.

En février et mars 2013, de nombreux représentants d’ONG travaillant avec les femmes et peuples autochtones ainsi que des chefs autochtones se sont réunis à Béni, Bukavu, Goma et Kinshasa afin de préparer un rapport alternatif au Comité pour l’élimination de la discrimination à l’égard des femmes (Comité CÉDEF).

This week, indigenous women from throughout the Asia-Pacific region have gathered to raise their voices and present their concerns to the on-going session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York.

Un taller sobre cuestiones de género fue organizado en Kisoro, en el sudoeste de Uganda, entre el 19 y el 21 de noviembre de 2012, con el objetivo de iniciar al pueblo indígena en los aspectos generales sobre el género. El taller concluyó con éxito.
El taller estaba organizado por la United Organisation for Batwa Development in Uganda o UOBDU (Organización Unida para el Desarrollo de los Batwa) y el Forest Peoples Programme o FPP (Programa para los pueblos de los Bosques), y en él participaron cincuenta hombres y mujeres Batwa de los distritos de Kanungu, Mbarara, Kabale y Kisoro. También asistieron al taller jóvenes de edades comprendidas entre los 14 y los 20 años.
