Tackling deforestation and forest degradation: a case for EU action in 2017

21 June, 2017

FPP together with EU NGOs has today released a shared vision calling on the EU to take action on deforestation and forest degradation, with respect for human rights and good governance of land tenure at its core. It stresses the need for more financial and technical assistance to clarify and strengthen land tenure and respect for human rights, including the rights of indigenous peoples; supporting protected areas that uphold community rights; and ensuring that FLEGT strategies contribute to addressing commodity supply-chain related drivers of deforestation and forest degradation.
