Thematic paper for the
international workshop on "Indigenous peoples, private
sector natural resource energy and mining companies and
human rights" held in Geneva, December 2001. The
paper outlines how current forestry practices impinge
on indigenous peoples and identifies constructive measures
to achieve agreement on all parties' mutual obligations
and responsibilities - just as is now being accepted as
best practice in the dam-building sector.
