This report describes the
mining and colonialist influences on the collapse of the
Suriname economy, and how the indigenous peoples and Maroon
communities have been excluded from power. Desperate for
cash, Suriname is now selling off the country´s
minerals and forests to foreign companies, undermining
the peoples' lives. The report offers an alternative path
based on securing community rights to the forests.
