Change of name of 'Forest Peoples Project'

The charitable arm of the Forest Peoples Programme, previously known as the Forest Peoples Project, has officially changed its name

Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) is a non-governmental human rights organisation, founded in 1990 as a Dutch Stichting. In 1999 it registered part of its work as a UK-registered charitable arm, called the Forest Peoples Project. This was because at that time some of the activities of the organisation fell outside the UK Charity Commission remit. Following the passing of the UK Charities Act 2006 and new definitions of charitable activities, all the work of the Forest Peoples Programme now falls within the UK charitable rules and regulations. Therefore, the FPP board officially changed the name of the charitable arm to Forest Peoples Programme. This took effect in June 2008.

Forest Peoples Programme - which is now both a UK-registered charity and a Dutch Stichting - encompasses all our work.
