Complaint regarding Wilmar Group’s sale agreement of PT Asiatic Persada (Jambi, Indonesia) to non-RSPO member and non-IFC funded companies without prior consultation with Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) affected communities

Complaint regarding Wilmar Group’s sale agreement of PT Asiatic Persada (Jambi, Indonesia) to non-RSPO member and non-IFC funded companies without prior consultation with Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) affected communities

This complaint is directed to Wilmar Group regarding its sale agreement of PT Asiatic Persada (Jambi, Indonesia) to Prima Fortune International Ltd and PT Agro Mandiri Semesta.

This sale agreement has been effected without any prior consultation or information-sharing with Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) affected communities currently engaged in IFC CAO mediation with the provincial government of Jambi (Joint Team Mediation), or with the coalition of original signatories to the IFC complaint of 9th November 2011 which led to this mediation process. There are serious uncertainties over the terms and implications of this handover to non-Wilmar, non-RSPO member and non-IFC funded companies for the mediation process underway since early 2012. Wilmar has to date failed to inform the communities or complaint signatories on whether and how it will continue to assume any responsibility in ensuring that the conflicts in PT Asiatic Persada are fully resolved.
