The Autonomous Territorial Government of the Wampis Nation (GTANW), which represents the Wampís nation (current self-denomination), was born as a natural process of the socio-historical process for the dignity and vindication of territorial, social, cultural, educational and economic rights . The institutional vision is the assurance of the continuity of the cultural biophysical existence of one of the ancient Amazonian cultures of Peru - the Wampis nation, taking as an inseparable basis and a positive symbiotic system of man-nature and is projected towards the achievement of Tarimat Pujut , as the final stage of social welfare.

In this sense, the GTANW constitutes the factual assumption of self-determination framed in international legal instruments and critically challenges itself the reconstruction and collective reorientation of Wampís thinking, in all the aspects that we have to live in today's life: educational , political, economic, health, etc. to lead towards the creation of endogenous capacities, which in turn implies the maintenance and strengthening of the system of protection and conservation of nature.

The Wampís Nation, is also aware of many positive and negative changes of all kinds and in all societies of the world, and, in addition, will never live in isolation, which implies a social need for peaceful and harmonious coexistence with other cultures and cultures. societies, which, includes the positive relationship with the State and government levels. In particular, the path we have to live and build is very complex, difficult and arduous, we accept it as a process, patience, but with the firmness and conviction necessary to create social and political conditions and achieve a democracy that works for all.



  • Strengthen and consolidate the system of care, conservation and use of territories, forests and biodiversity
  • Preserve the ancestral ideology and wisdom Wampís in dialogue with other cultures
  • Strengthen the democratic values of inclusion through proposals of public policies to the Peruvian State
  • Design, establish and execute an alternative plan to socio-economic development that guarantees the existence and continuity of nature, the rights of the Wampís nation and its culture.
