Killings, torture, sexual and physical violence and intimidation have no place in conservation

In this compendium, 11 indigenous and human rights rights organisations from across the globe reiterated their calls on the key components that EU lawmakers should address in developing new legal instruments to regulate corporations and supply chains, including the elements it requires to be effective in holding companies and the finance industry to account.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its social and economic consequences are dramatically changing the trajectory towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including for the more than 476 million indigenous and forest peoples throughout the world.

On Human Rights Day, the UN highlights a key message: that the international community must take concrete actions to prevent attacks against human rights and environmental defenders who put their lives at risk to protect those affected by business activities.

Representatives from indigenous, Afro-descendent and peasant communities from 16 countries issued an urgent call for action: the Geneva Declaration. This calls for an end to the violence, killing and deliberate criminalisation of people defending their rights, lands and their communities.

The Zero Tolerance Initiative seeks to address violence, intimidation and killings of indigenous people and other human rights defenders linked to global supply chains.

FPP endorses and supports a joint AIPP-IWGIA letter calling for the Indian Central Government to immediately reverse the order of February 13th 2019.

Al final de tres intensos días de discusión, intercambio y redacción, representantes de Ik, Tepeth, Batwa, Benet y Ngikarimajong publicaron el Memorando de Kisoro, una declaración definitiva de sus derechos y expectativas de apoyo de su gobierno y de otros actores, incluido el sistema de las Naciones Unidas.

At the end of three intense days of discussion, exchange and drafting, representatives from the Ik, Tepeth, Batwa, Benet and Ngikarimajong have released the Kisoro Memorandum, a definitive statement of their rights and expectations for support from their government and from other actors, including the UN system.
