This publication is launched on the occasion of World Food Day, marked by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations with the theme of “Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition”. In particular, this report seeks to inform one of the key objectives of World Food Day: to encourage the participation of rural people, particularly women and the least privileged categories, in decisions and activities influencing their living conditions.

Este impactante informe constituye el primer estudio de campo detallado de las experiencias de comunidades con el proyecto Estado Integrado de Alimentación y Energía de Merauke (MIFEE por sus siglas en inglés) del Gobierno de Indonesia, que abarca dos millones de hectáreas. El estudio muestra que MIFEE está minando la autosuficiencia de la población local y poniendo en duda la política de seguridad alimentaria del Gobierno nacional, basada en promover las empresas de agricultura a gran escala a expensas de las comunidades locales.

Ce rapport bouleversant présente la première étude terrain détaillée des expériences des communautés par rapport au projet de 2 millions d’hectares du gouvernement indonésien, Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate (MIFEE).  L’étude montre que le projet MIFEE compromet l’autosuffisance locale, mettant en cause la politique nationale du gouvernement en matière de sécurité alimentaire, qui repose sur la promotion des grandes entreprises agricoles aux dépens des communautés locales.

Publikasi ini diluncurkan pada peringataan Hari Pangan Sedunia, yang ditandai oleh Organisasi Pangan dan Pertanian Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa dengan tema "Sistem Pangan Berkelanjutan untuk Ketahanan Pangan dan Gizi". Secara khusus, laporan ini berusaha untuk memberi ilham pada salah satu tujuan utama Hari Pangan Sedunia, yaitu untuk mendorong partisipasi masyarakat pedesaan, khususnya kaum perempuan dan mereka yang memiliki kewenangan paling kecil, dalam keputusan dan kegiatan yang mempengaruhi kondisi hidup mereka.

Following a field visit to the site of the Kalimantan Forest Carbon Partnership (KFCP) in Kuala Kapuas, Central Kalimantan in May 2011, FPP and Yayasan Pusaka sent a letter to the KFCP raising concerns about the project’s impact on local communities. The letter presented information reported to us by community members on problems they were encountering with the KFCP.
