Los pueblos indígenas y las comunidades locales (PICL) viven en áreas que coinciden con zonas de mucha diversidad biológica. Estas zonas de gran diversidad biológica suelen ser también ricas en diversidad cultural, como lo evidencia la variedad de lenguas que se hablan en ellas.

This guide was developed to address the most pressing natural resource concerns of communities. It summarises the legal provisions of current Cameroonian legislation relating to natural resource management, and guides communities on what to look for, demand or avoid when faced with a situation of natural resource exploitation on their lands.

Ce guide a été élaboré pour répondre aux préoccupations les plus urgentes des communautés en matière de ressources naturelles. Il résume les dispositions juridiques des législations actuelles camerounaises relatives à la gestion des ressources naturelles et guide les communautés sur ce qu’il faut rechercher, exiger ou éviter lorsqu’elles sont confrontées à une situation d’exploitation des ressources naturelles sur leurs terres.

This suite of training materials has been developed for communities in Cameroon to help increase awareness of the key principles surrounding free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) and to improve the implementation of these principles in practice.

Cette série de matériels de formation a été mise au point pour les communautés camerounaises afin de sensibiliser davantage aux principes fondamentaux du consentement libre, informé et préalable (CLIP) et d’améliorer la mise en œuvre de ces principes dans la pratique.

This suite of training materials has been developed for communities in Liberia to help increase awareness of the key principles surrounding free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) and to improve the implementation of these principles in practice.

An increasing feature of FPP’s work with forest peoples is supporting them to monitor their community’s wellbeing and the state of their territories, for instance the health of biodiversity, climate change impacts, or effects of unsustainable activities such as illegal logging or mining. Communities also monitor national or local level implementation of international biodiversity, climate, development and human rights agreements. While ‘tracking what is going on in forest peoples’ lands’ itself is nothing new, what is new is the emerging international attention for  ‘community-based monitoring and information systems (CBMIS)’ and the acknowledgement by international policy-makers, academe, and conservation and development agencies, that indigenous peoples and local communities have important contributions to make to global assessments and monitoring initiatives because of their profound knowledge and connection to their lands and resources.

Un elemento crecientemente importante de la labor del FPP con los pueblos de los bosques es ayudarles a supervisar el bienestar de sus comunidades y el estado de sus territorios, por ejemplo la salud de la biodiversidad, los impactos del cambio climático o los efectos de actividades insostenibles como la tala ilegal o la minería. Las comunidades también supervisan la implementación de acuerdos internacionales sobre la biodiversidad, el clima, el desarrollo y los derechos humanos a nivel nacional o local. Si bien «llevar un seguimiento de lo que pasa en las tierras de los pueblos de los bosques» no es nada nuevo en sí mismo, sí lo es la atención internacional dirigida a los « sistemas de información y monitoreo basados en la comunidad » (CBMIS por sus siglas en inglés) y el reconocimiento por parte de los responsables de la formulación de políticas internacionales, los académicos y los organismos de conservación y desarrollo del hecho de que los pueblos indígenas y las comunidades locales pueden hacer contribuciones importantes a las evaluaciones globales y las iniciativas de supervisión, gracias a un conocimiento profundo de sus tierras y recursos y a las conexiones que tienen con ellos .

Le travail du FPP avec les peuples de la forêt consiste de plus en plus à les soutenir dans le suivi du bien-être de leur communauté et de l’état de leurs territoires, par exemple au niveau de la santé de la biodiversité, des effets du changement climatique, ou des répercussions des activités non durables telles que l'exploitation forestière ou minière illégale. Les communautés effectuent par ailleurs un suivi de la mise en œuvre nationale ou locale des accords internationaux sur la biodiversité, le climat, le développement et les droits humains.

Salah satu fitur yang semakin meningkat dari kerja FPP dengan masyarakat hutan adalah mendukung mereka untuk memantau kesejahteraan komunitas mereka dan keadaan wilayah mereka, misalnya kesehatan keanekaragaman hayati, dampak perubahan iklim, atau dampak dari aktivitas yang tidak ramah lingkungan seperti pembalakan liar atau penambangan. Masyarakat juga memantau implementasi kesepakatan-kesepakatan keanekaragaman hayati, iklim, pembangunan dan hak asasi manusia internasional di tingkat nasional atau lokal. Walaupun kegiatan untuk melacak apa yang tengah terjadi di dalam tanah masyarakat hutan itu sendiri bukanlah sesuatu yang baru, namun perhatian internasional yang berkembang terhadap 'pemantauan dan sistem informasi berbasis masyarakat (CBMIS/community-based monitoring and information systems)' merupakan hal yang tidak banyak terjadi sebelumnya. Di samping itu,pengakuan para pembuat kebijakan, akademisi, dan lembaga konservasi dan pembangunan internasional, bahwa masyarakat adat dan komunitas lokal memiliki kontribusi penting terhadap penilaian global dan inisiatif pemantauan dikarenakan pengetahuan dan hubungan mereka yang mendalam dengan tanah dan sumber daya mereka, juga merupakan suatu hal yang baru yang sebelumnya tidak banyak terjadi.

Indigenous and human rights organisations from across the Americas are working together to develop a specific methodology for investigating, documenting and fighting indigenous women's cases through the justice system. The organisations involved include ONIC, the National Indigenous Organisation of Colombia; COAJ, the Board of Indigenous Organisations of Jujuy (Argentina); SER, Mixe People's Services (Mexico); QNW, Quebec Native Women (Canada); and AJDH, Lawyers for Justice and Human Rights (Mexico). This work is being carried out within the framework of a project called Ethnic and gender-based discrimination in the Americas: the case of indigenous women.

Organizaciones indígenas y de derechos humanos como son la Organización Nacional Indígena de Colombia (ONIC), el Consejo de Organizaciones Aborígenes de Jujuy (COAJ), Servicios del Pueblo Mixe (SER), Femmes autochtones du Québec (FAQ) y Abogadas y Abogados para la Justicia y los Derechos Humanos (AJDH) trabajan juntas para desarrollar una metodología específica para investigar, documentar y litigar los casos de mujeres indígenas en el marco de un proyecto llamado Discriminación étnica y de género en las Américas: el caso de las mujeres indígenas (el Proyecto).

Des organisations autochtones et des droits humains des Amériques travaillent de concert pour élaborer une méthode spécifique d’étude, de documentation et de lutte à appliquer aux affaires des femmes autochtones défendues dans le système de justice. Les organisations participantes sont notamment ONIC - l’Organisation nationale autochtone de Colombie, COAJ – le Conseil des organisations autochtones de Jujuy (Argentine), SER - Services du peuple mixe (Mexique), QNW – Femmes autochtones du Québec (Canada), et AJDH, Avocats pour la justice et les droits humains (Mexique). Ce travail est conduit dans le cadre d’un projet intitulé Discrimination fondée sur l’ethnie et le genre dans les Amériques : le cas des femmes autochtones.

Organisasi hak-hak asasi manusia dan hak adat dari seluruh Amerika tengah bekerja sama untuk mengembangkan sebuah metodologi khusus untuk menyelidiki, mendokumentasikan dan memperjuangkan kasus-kasus perempuan adat melalui sistem peradilan. Organisasi-organisasi yang terlibat mencakup ONIC, Organisasi Adat Nasional Kolombia; COAJ, Dewan Organisasi Adat Jujuy (Argentina); SER, Layanan Masyarakat Mixe (Meksiko); QNW, Perempuan Adat Quebec (Kanada); dan AJDH, Pengacara untuk Keadilan dan Hak Asasi Manusia (Meksiko). Kerja ini tengah dilakukan dalam kerangka sebuah proyek yang disebut Diskriminasi berbasis etnis dan gender di Amerika: kasus perempuan adat.

Indigenous women from Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Paraguay met from 27th to 29th June 2012 in Boruca, Costa Rica to further develop a toolkit on indigenous women’s rights in the Inter-American system of human rights.

Entre el 27 y el 29 de junio de 2012 se celebró una reunión de mujeres indígenas de Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Canadá, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá y Paraguay en Boruca, Costa Rica, para continuar desarrollando una guía sobre los derechos de las mujeres indígenas en el sistema interamericano de derechos humanos.

Des femmes autochtones d’Argentine, du Costa Rica, du Chili, du Canada, du Guatemala, du Honduras, du Mexique, du Nicaragua, du Panama et du Paraguay se sont réunies du 27 au 29 juin 2012 à Boruca, au Costa Rica, pour continuer à développer un guide sur les droits des femmes autochtones dans le système interaméricain pour la protection de droits humains.

As mulheres indígenas da Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Canadá, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicarágua, Panamá e Paraguai se reuniram entre os dias 27 e 29 de junho de 2012, em Boruca- Costa Rica, para desenvolver um conjunto de ferramentas sobre os direitos das mulheres indígenas no sistema Interamericano de Direitos Humanos.

A new publication entitled “Indigenous women’s rights and the African human rights system: a toolkit on mechanisms” was launched at the end of April 2011 during the session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, The Gambia. The launch was officiated by Commissioner Soyata Maïga, Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Women in Africa, who also contributed to the toolkit. It was elaborated in consultation with local, regional, and international partners who work with indigenous women and indigenous peoples’ organisations. The toolkit consists of a series of informative notes that review human rights standards pertaining to indigenous women in Africa and the different mechanisms available to promote and ensure the protection of these rights. It aims at providing NGOs and indigenous women's organisations in Africa with a helpful resource to guide their effective use of the various African human rights mechanisms.
