The  UNFCCC Climate Conference (COP26) in Glasgow last month came at a critical point in the fight against climate change and the ecological and humanitarian crisis facing humanity and the planet. Despite the pandemic, hundreds of Indigenous Peoples and Local Community leaders and activists made it to Glasgow.  

This high-level event, co-convened by Swedbio, the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB), the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Women 4 Biodiversity, the Geneva Environment Network (GEN), and Forest Peoples Programme, was held on the 8th Dec 2021.

The Nɨpodɨmakɨ people of the Amazonian Middle Caquetá region of lowland Colombia have sent messages to national leaders and the world community urging genuine respect for Mother Earth.
