Environnement Ressources Naturelles et Développement (ERND Institute)

Environnement Ressources Naturelles et Développement (ERND Institute) is an NGO established in 2004 according to the law of the Democratic Republic of Congo (N° 053/CAB/MIN/J&DH/2008 and N° 3087/CAB/ MIN/ ECNT/15/JEB/2008). It also enjoys observer status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights. In this capacity, ERND is active in several fields, including the defence and promotion of the rights of communities in general, and of indigenous peoples in particular, in line with the rights-based approach to nature conservation. ERND’s advocacy of forest communities' rights to natural resources extends across South Kivu, Mai-Ndombe, Equateur, and the City Province of Kinshasa.
