Elders walking and sharing histories

The Muinane people of the Colombian Amazon have published a book researched and written by their elders titled Fééne fíívo játyɨme iyáachimɨhai jíínɨje: Territorio primordial de vida de la descendencia del Centro. Memorias del territorio del Pueblo Féénemɨnaa Gente de Centro.

The book details how the Muinane people conceive their territory in the Amazon grounded in their own world view and ‘Law of Origin’, including principles for the care of their forest ecosystem and spiritual powerful places within fééne fiivo jiinɨje.

It also details the history of how this Amazonian people has struggled to rebuild their social organisation and systems of self-government since near extermination by the rubber trade in the early 20th century. It is the first work on the history of the Casa Arana atrocities compiled directly by the descendants of the victims.
