Chief Theodoris Jubitana, Chairman of VIDS in Suriname, loses battle to Covid-19

FPP is very sad to hear the news of the passing, on 20th July, of Theodoris Jubitana, the chairman of our partner organisation VIDS in Suriname, and chief of Hollandse Kamp village. Like so many in this very testing point in time, he lost the battle against COVID-19.

We remember chief Theo as an inspiring, outspoken and good-humoured leader who was fully dedicated to the cause of collective rights of indigenous and tribal peoples in Suriname, and to the resilience of his own village Hollandse Kamp in particular.

Our condolences go out to all his colleagues at VIDS, the community of Hollandse Kamp, and especially all his friends and family.
