Strategic Framework Plan 2025-2030

‘Keeping our roots, extending our branches’
This Strategic Framework Plan articulates FPP’s priorities for the coming five years. It starts at our roots, outlining the history, vision, mission, and core principles that guide our work. Together with an updated theory of change drawing on lessons from over three decades of advocacy, it grounds those priorities in our collaboration with indigenous peoples and forest peoples and the broader movement for the realisation of their rights. Given that the right to self-determination underpins what we do and how we do it, our strategic approach is woven from threads spun together with the peoples and partners with whom we have maintained long-term relationships of solidarity.
In the same spirit of collaboration and solidarity, the Plan’s strategic priorities look forward to the next five years and the role which FPP can most effectively play in helping to address the evolving needs and priorities expressed by our partners. It also looks at how FPP needs to develop as an organisation to be the resilient and flexible ally our partners need. We see this Plan as a way of sharing a more crystallised vision of who we are, why we exist, where we are headed, and how we hope to get there with our partners, donors, and supporters, and over time with new staff members.
Our Strategic Priorities

Our Future
To support our partners’ visions, deliver on our mission and strengthen our collective impact, FPP needs to be financially resilient, agile, and efficient, and have policies, procedures and resources in place to deliver our strategy and remain a strong and dependable ally for the many indigenous peoples and forest peoples we work alongside. To ensure this, our strategy will focus on strengthening our organisational resilience in three key areas: governance and management, financial resilience, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning capacity.
Central to FPP’s allyship model has been maximising value to partners through a combination of direct finance and long term accompaniment and technical support. Our vision for the next five years sees us furthering our impact by increasing the amount of unrestricted funding flowing to support partners’ self-determined priorities, together with ensuring FPP has the capacity and funding to sustain the long-term support and accompaniment requested of us by our partners. Through this unique combination we can achieve the greatest impact on, and responsiveness to, the challenges and opportunities our partners are facing both now and on the horizon.
