Green Climate Fund finally adopts robust Indigenous Peoples Policy
Indigenous Peoples have been advocating for a robust policy to protect their rights at the Green Climate Fund (GCF). After a number of years, and some delays, the Board of the GCF has adopted a policy which should ensure the rights of indigenous peoples are recognised, respected and promoted in climate-related funding. As the Indigenous Peoples Advocacy Team on the GCF notes “the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Policy represents a high level rights-based benchmark for the Fund’s operation and for climate finance at large.”
