In memory of Dico Luckyharto, FPP Staff Member

We are very saddened to inform our friends that our colleague, friend and fellow advocate, Dico Luckharto, sadly passed away last week. Dico was a dear colleague to us here at the Forest Peoples Programme and worked tirelessly to help indigenous and forest peoples fight for their rights and secure a better future for themselves.

Marcus Colchester, senior policy advisor and founder director of Forest Peoples Programme said “Dico was deeply appreciated by FPP staff and local partners for his dedication, quiet humour and his thoughtful attention to what really matters on the ground. His untimely death leaves a big hole both in our hearts and in our work programme in Indonesia”.

Dico was a man full of great energy and happiness who brought countless joy to those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Angus McInnes, a former team member, worked closely with Dico, and said “He was always joking, smiling and looking at the positives in sometimes bleak and sad situations… his tireless work in the field has changed the fortunes of numerous indigenous communities across Indonesia and beyond. He was an incredible man, and an outstanding activist.”

Dico will be sorely missed, and we at the Forest Peoples Programme send our deepest sympathies to his friends and family at this time.
