Indigenous peoples in West Papua call for halt of harmful 'development activities' on their customary lands

"Currently, we, the indigenous people, traditional villagers and forest people, and the places where we are living are under pressure and face sustained injustice and social tension due to large-scale “development’ activities conducted by plantation and commercial logging companies."

After travelling to Jakarta to meet with religious leaders, and representatives from the environmental and forest ministry, the affected communities from West Papua took part in a demonstration, and issued the following Joint Statement and Press Release (available for download below).
