The letter is written in solidarity with the Federation of Native Communities of Ucayali and Tributaries (FECONAU), the Regional Organisation of Aidesep in Ucayali (ORAU) and the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest (AIDESEP).
Although the Flor de Ucayali community's land has been titled, they still suffer threats to their lands, lives and livelihoods on a regular basis.
This letter asks Pedro Castillo Terrones, the President of Peru, to take immediate action to guarantee indigenous rights, protect human rights defenders in Flor de Ucayali, as well as creating and implementing across-sectional protection plan for the community in the face of continuing threats to their land and fundamental rights.
Letter and annexes available in Spanish only.
