Press release - Ugandan Batwa issue declaration calling for their rights to be recognised

Community representatives from 5 districts have submitted the declaration to the Government demanding land for resettlement. Since they were evicted from their traditional forests In the 1990s to make way for national parks, they have been marginalised and landless. They also seek renewed access to the forest for their cultural practices.
