Since the publication in 2011 of Oil palm expansion in South East Asia: trends and implications for local communities and indigenous peoples by Forest Peoples Programme and Sawit Watch, little significant change has occurred with regards to official policies on palm oil production in the Philippines. However, the industry, represented by the Philippines Palm Oil Development Council (PPDCI), the main palm oil industry body, appears to have ratcheted up its advocacy in favour of further support for its expansion with a critique of government inaction.
