Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG) Charter
The Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG) is made up of producers and civil society organisations and includes Agropalma, DAABON, New Britain Palm Oil, as well as WWF, Rainforest Action Network (RAN), Forest Peoples Programme and Greenpeace.
The POIG builds on the RSPO’s certification scheme with additional requirements to ensure that there is a supply of traceable palm oil free from forest and peatland destruction and human rights abuses. It builds a business case for responsible palm oil by bridging the gap between palm oil producers and palm oil consumer companies such as Nestle, and more recently Ferrero and Unilever, which have made ‘No Deforestation’ commitments.
Many members of the POIG are RSPO members who continue to be committed to the RSPO and certification verified against the RSPO Principles and Criteria.
