Presentation on Customary Sustainable Use - Article 10(c), Side Event at CBD COP10, Nagoya, 18 October, 2010

On Monday 18th October, FPP and its indigenous and local community partners together with the CBD Secretariat, hosted a side event on customary sustainable use, which is the focus of CBD Article 10(c). In a joint presentation, Louis (Suriname), Praserd (Thailand), Messe (Cameroon) and Baten (Bangladesh) explained what customary sustainable use is, what obstacles there are at the local and national levels in terms of implementation of Article 10(c), and presented  a wide range of community initiatives to enhance implementation of Article 10(c). In the conclusion they shared their views on the draft COP10 Decisions that address Article 10(c), which include decisions on article 8(j) and decisions on sustainable use.
