Seeing 'REDD'? Forests, climate change mitigation and the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities
Update for Poznan (UNFCCC COP 14), May 2009
Since FPP's first report on REDD in 2007 (see below) calling for an urgent debate on rights issues in forest and climate policy-making, governments and international agencies have started to acknowledge that social and rights issues need to be addressed. However, this updated report finds that forest peoples continue to be sidelined at the national and international levels, and governments have yet to make firm commitments to uphold their rights.
