Sungai Utik Declaration - on the roles of young men and women as next generation indigenous leaders
The Sungai Utik Declaration was the outcome of young indigenous leaders training. The declaration was formed in a highly collaborative drafting process, which followed five days of deep reflection by over twenty young indigenous leaders from Indonesia and the Phillippines. The five days included rituals, despair and empowerment work, developing time-lines of dispossession at the level of their territories, future generations reflections, private meditations in the forest, and many other exercises to support the participants to develop their personal sense of calling, and sense of their roles in relation to their ancestral territories in a time of change.
