An informal space for Indigenous delegations to exchange about their priorities, knowledge and strategies for territorial and climate defence. 

Guardians of the Land: Wapichan Stewardship in a Changing Climate 

The South Rupununi District Council will share how the Wapichan people of Guyana are upholding our role as guardians of our ancestral territory. We will share about our work  sustainably managing our lands in the face of climate change threats and other external threats to our precious biodiversity, demonstrating how Indigenous peoples are at the forefront of the global struggle at the nexus between conservation and climate change. 

Indigenous science and the Word of Life of the People of the Center of the Colombian Amazon: pathways to cool the Amazon and the world – Messages for COP30 

At this event, Indigenous elders of the People of the Center from the Colombian Amazon will share cultural principles and wisdom about caring for their territories, based on their own laws and “Word of Life,” and will deliver warnings and counsel to state and non-state actors at COP30 on deep changes required to cool and heal Mother Earth.

Asserting the territorial rights of the People of the Centre under STC 4360/18 - Colombian Amazonia 

At this event, the People of the Centre and their organisation, the Regional Indigenous Council of the Middle Amazon (CRIMA), will present their experiences and legal strategies (STC4360) for claiming fundamental rights and directly influencing public policies on the future of life in the Colombian Amazon.

What do the Amazonian Indigenous Peoples propose at COP30? 

The discussion explores proposals of Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon Basin, focussing on Indigenous Bioeconomy and approaches of Indigenous Peoples´direct access to climate finance mechanisms. 

From forest roots to global action: grassroots and youth alliances for a future without deforestation 

Join indigenous leaders from the Wampís Nation (Peru) and the Guaraní People (Brazil), alongside Welsh youth, communities and legislators, to explore how community action can combat global deforestation. This event highlights the crucial role of tropical forests, the impact of Wales' territorial footprint abroad, and how small nations can drive systemic change. 

Climate Justice and Social Transformation: Indigenous-Led Solutions and Frontline Realities

This session will bring together Indigenous voices from Latin America, Africa, and Asia to share concrete experiences of climate solutions and struggles for justice. Speakers will highlight both the challenges frontline defenders face and the transformative potential of Indigenous-led responses.

Indigenous territorial defenders, extractive economies and the energy transition in Colombia  

A panel of Indigenous leaders from Colombia will share experiences, perspectives, demands, and data regarding the situation of Indigenous territorial defenders at the national level, along with specific cases from the Putumayo region.
