Institute for Development and Peace Studies (INDEPAZ)

The Institute for Development and Peace Studies - INDEPAZ - is an NGO which carries out long term projects in the pursuit of peace in Colombia.

It was formed in 1984, and since then it has carried out training, research and the creation of spaces for dialogue. It is involved in the issues of development and peace; strengthening of ethnic and youth based organisations in particular; and multi-stakeholder dialogues including companies, unions, governments and social organisations.

INDEPAZ initiatives include:

• Social, ethnic and youth organisations in the relationship with companies and mega-projects;
• The security of citizens;
• Evaluation and monitoring of security and territorial consolidation plans; and
• Monitoring the impact on public land policies, victims' rights, justice and peace, reinstatement, mining, development and peace.

It monitors the status of the armed conflict, the reintegration of armed groups, and the economics and politics of this situation. INDEPAZ also offers courses on the aforementioned issues.
