Our Land, Our Life: Report on Indigenous Land Tenure in Guyana

In September 2019, The Amerindian Peoples Association, Forest Peoples Programme and the Rainforest Foundation US published a report titled "Our Land, Our Life". It covers the land tenure situation of 20 indigenous communities in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni Region, 15 of which are titled and five of which possess no legal documents to their land.

The report highlights the lived experience of indigenous communities in Guyana relating to their lands. The information is vitally important to informing ongoing efforts to reform existing and draft new national policies and laws on land and resource tenure, and to bring them in line with Guyana’s international human rights commitments and obligations.
