The Updated Community Guide to IFC Performance Standard 7
A clear, illustrated guide for communities explaining the International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s Performance Standard 7 on Indigenous Peoples (PS7). The guide has been updated to account for changes the IFC made in 2012. It is aimed at informing affected communities, their representative organisations and supporters about PS7. It reviews what to do if a company is planning to develop projects on or near indigenous peoples lands, using a loan from the IFC) – the private sector part of the World Bank Group.
The guide explains how to improve, monitor, question or challenge such projects if affected communities consider the IFC is not following its own rules and has not respected the communities' rights. In doing so it summarises the rules of PS7, as well as other relevant performance standards, reviews the rules that a company or IFC staff must follow through different phases in a project and what you can do if you are worried about a project.
