Bangladesh
Forest Peoples Programme has worked in Bangladesh, a country in South Asia with over 54 Indigenous Peoples, since the early 2000s. Alongside our partner, we work on enhancing community and ecosystem resilience by utilising traditional knowledge and customary practices as a means of conserving biodiversity.
Main activities and current work
Our work, alongside our partner, focuses on community resilience, grassroots organising, and influencing national-level policy.
This includes advocating for policies that support local and indigenous communities at a national level, as well as establishing grassroots cooperatives in the Sundarbans to strengthen livelihoods and promote cultural resilience.
