This statement was presented by the indigenous representatives participating in a seminar organised by the Amerindian Peoples Association in Georgetown, February 2015. The seminar sought to facilitate a broad discussion on the concept of legality – how to define legal timber - in the Guyana VPA negotiations and was attended by indigenous representatives from 9 regions of Guyana in addition to government agencies, NGOs, national and international legal experts and individuals with experiences from other VPA processes.
